Madonna made a surprise return to standup comedy in New York City over the weekend. The Material Girl performed a 30-minute set at the Comedy Cellar on Saturday night (January 25), thanks to an invitation from comedian/actor Amy Schumer. Although the audience was initially stunned by Madonna’s presence, she eventually managed to warm them up with her profanity-laden jokes, with the highlight being a controversial quip about mass deportations. “She got laughs every time she dropped an F-bomb, because just hearing Madonna curse is funny,” a source told The Sun. This marked Madonna’s second standup stint at the Comedy Cellar, following her previous performance at the venue in 2017, and her third overall attempt at standup comedy if you include her surprise opening set for Schumer at Madison Square Garden in 2016.
