‘Cliffhanger’ Sequel Already In Development For Upcoming Reboot

A sequel to the upcoming Cliffhanger reboot is already in early development. The reboot stars Lily James and Pierce Brosnan, with Jaume Collet-Serra directing — though it’s unclear if any of them are involved in the sequel. Currently in post-production, the reboot reimagines the 1993 original that earned $255M globally and starred Sylvester Stallone under Renny Harlin’s direction. Brosnan plays mountaineer Ray Cooper, who runs a luxury Dolomites chalet with his daughter Sydney. When kidnappers target a billionaire’s son during a weekend trip, Ray’s daughter Naomi, portrayed by James, must overcome past climbing trauma to save her family. No release date has been set.
