The National Toy Hall of Fame welcomed three new members Thursday: slime, Battleship, and Trivial Pursuit. The Rochester, New York museum honors toys that inspire creative play across generations through public and expert voting. Battleship and Trivial Pursuit have each sold over 100 million copies during their decades-long runs. Milton Bradley’s plastic Battleship edition from 1967 transformed the 1930s pencil-and-paper game into a hit, later inspiring a 2012 Universal Pictures movie. Canadian journalists Chris Haney and Scott Abbott created Trivial Pursuit in 1979, eventually selling rights to Hasbro. Slime, commercially introduced in 1976, remains popular as both store-bought and homemade versions using ingredients like baking soda and glue. The inductees beat finalists including Catan, Connect Four, and Tickle Me Elmo. (Story URL)
