The Weeknd has contributed $350,000 to help Jamaica recover from Hurricane Melissa, which struck in late October. The funds come from his XO Humanitarian Fund and will assist over 220,000 Jamaicans through the World Food Programme. Hurricane Melissa affected six million people across Caribbean islands, with Jamaica bearing significant damage. World Food Program USA President and CEO Barron Segar stated: “We are grateful to The Weeknd for his generous support for WFP’s urgent relief efforts. His compassion will provide much needed comfort and resilience to Jamaicans as they navigate this crisis.” The WFP has distributed emergency food to 254,000 people across Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti. The Weeknd launched the XO Humanitarian Fund in 2022, raising over $6.5 million from his After Hours Til Dawn Tour to combat global hunger crises. (Story URL)
