Sean “Diddy” Combs’ rep condemned Netflix’s documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning as a “shameful hit piece” using “stolen footage that was never authorized for release.” The series, produced by 50 Cent, launches December 2nd. Director Alexandria Stapleton told Variety “we obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights” and “reached out to Sean Combs’ legal team for an interview and comment multiple times, but did not hear back.” Combs’ rep claims he “has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way” and calls Netflix’s use of private material “fundamentally unfair, and illegal.” The statement describes 50 Cent as “a longtime adversary with a personal vendetta.” The documentary includes footage of Combs six days before his 2024 arrest, where he says “We need to find someone who will work with us who has worked in the dirtiest of dirty businesses.” (Story URL)
