You think movies cost too much where you live? How would you like to pay 50 bucks PER TICKET? And I’m not talking sometime down the road. It’s happening NOW.
Regal Cinemas charged that much for opening night seats to see “Dune: Part 3” in 70 millimeter IMAX theaters this coming December. And the tickets sold out in MINUTES.
It’s not just Regal that’s bumping up prices in premium format theaters. Nationwide, the average ticket cost is $18, and it’s as high as $30 in major cities.
The average ticket price at regular theaters is $12.75.
Theaters are jacking up prices because attendance is down, and they’re still not seeing pre-pandemic numbers. But some people are concerned that normal people are being priced out of the moviegoing experience.
