We’ve made it to July, which is National Ice Cream Month. National Ice Cream DAY isn’t until the 19th . . . it’s always the THIRD Sunday of July . . . but today is National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day.
So if you’re champing at the bit to go out and celebrate, what’s your go-to flavor?
A recent report used data from Google to determine the most popular ice cream flavors in every state . . . and some states went the classic route, while others go for the more unique stuff.
Overall, America’s Top Five are: Strawberry, Chocolate Chip, Cookie Dough, Chocolate, and Vanilla. And the BOTTOM Five are: Ube, Blue Moon, Mocha, Lavender, and Mango.
STRAWBERRY was #1 in 15 states, more than any other flavor.
The states where Strawberry reigns are: Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Six places picked Birthday Cake flavor: Alabama, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Iowa, Louisiana, and North Carolina.
Four states love Cookie Dough ice cream: Alaska, Massachusetts, Montana, and New Hampshire.
Four states picked Chocolate Chip: Colorado, Missouri, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Three got vanilla by saying Vanilla is their favorite: Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. (So much for the “Wild West,” although Utah being boring isn’t shocking.)
Two have Chocolate #1: Illinois and Wisconsin . . . two have Neapolitan #1: Oklahoma and Washington . . . and Arizona loves the classic Rocky Road. And a special shout-out for the states who love more CREATIVE flavors:
Pistachio: New Mexico and New York
Boba: Florida

Coconut: Hawaii
Peppermint: Indiana
Matcha: Kansas
Blueberry: Maine
