Americans are really getting into BEANS apparently, which sounds more like a recession indicator than a CHOICE. But maybe not.

In a new poll, 95% of Americans say they eat beans fairly regularly, and 57% of meat-eaters say they’re willing to swap out meat for beans at least once a week.

Why? Well, 53% say they’d do it to be healthier . . . 41% say they’d do it to reduce the cost of groceries . . . 40% want an alternative protein source . . . and 34% would do it to cut back on processed foods.

In the poll, the most popular beans are black beans. 46% of people like those. Pinto beans came in second, followed by kidney beans . . . chickpeas / garbanzo beans . . . navy / white beans . . . lentils . . . and soybeans.

The least popular are fava beans, followed by cannellini beans.
