A lot of people have irrational fears of various animals . . . like chupacabras . . . but others have VERY RATIONAL fears, assuming it’s possible they could actually encounter those animals where they live.
The website World Population Review put out a list of the “most dangerous animals by state.”
For example:
Coyotes are the most dangerous animals in FOUR states: Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Utah.
Moose are the most dangerous in Colorado, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Whitetail deer are #1 in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Ohio, and West Virginia.
There are a lot of bears: The American black bear is #1 in Kentucky and Massachusetts . . . the (regular, I guess) Black bear is #1 in Tennessee and Wisconsin . . . the Grizzly bear is #1 in Idaho, Montana, and Washington state. And the “North American black bear” is #1 in Oregon.
There are also a TON of snakes on the list.

The Prairie rattlesnake is #1 in North Dakota . . . the Pygmy rattlesnake is #1 in Georgia . . . the Southern copperhead is #1 in South Carolina . . . the Southern Pacific rattlesnake is #1 in California . . .
The Timber rattlesnake is #1 in both Connecticut and Kansas . . . the Western pygmy rattlesnake is #1 in Oklahoma . . . and the Yellow-bellied sea snake is #1 in Hawaii.
Meanwhile, “Dogs” are #1 in Alaska . . . and Mosquitoes are #1 in New York.
