We’ve officially entered the “-BER” months. To the delight of sisters-in-law everywhere, who love pumpkin spice . . . fall leaves . . . costume parties . . . Thanksgiving dinners . . . and Christmas festivities.
But these last four months of the year have 30-31-30-and-31 days. Which is difficult to keep straight. For some people.
A post on social media is going viral, where someone says, quote, “It’s kinda dumb that months are different lengths. 365 should be divided into FIVE equal months of 73 days each: Jebruary, Mapril, Jaugust, Soctober, and Necember.”
Millions of people saw the post, and it attracted 40,000 likes and comments . . . and even MORE if you include the accounts sharing it. Not surprisingly, some people liked the idea, and others were not fans.
Here’s a rundown of some of the best responses:
1. “[How about] 13 months, 28 days each . . . that’s 364 . . . and then New Year’s Day is a special break day?”
2. “I prefer the Egyptian method: 12 even months of 30 days . . . then a five- or six-day holiday festival.”
3. “Living through a 73-day Jaugust would finish people.”
4. “My birthday is now Jaugust 43rd.” Another said, “I was born in Soctober.”
5. “Soctober sounds lit! But ‘wake me up when Soctober ends’ hits different.”
6. “Now we totally hafta redo all the astrology, maybe this time I’ll get to be a Virgo instead of a stupid Taurus.”
7. Several people mentioned that paydays would have to be adjusted if paid monthly, but someone else said, “And rent due once a month still.”
8. “Why even have months at all? Let’s just go with days 1 to 365. Sure would cut down on 06-10-26-type confusion.”
9. “Jebruary sounds like a trendy girl name in Utah.”
10. “Reading this made me realize that I’m not using my brain to its full potential.”
11. “I both hate and love this.” Another said, “This is a terrible idea. I love it.”
