Tucson Unified School District is inviting families, staff, and community members to take part in its “Reimagining Our Schools Together” community conversations. The meetings will give the public an opportunity to learn more and provide feedback on several topics being considered by the district, including potential school consolidations and closures, expansion of programs, grade-level reconfigurations, and possible future uses for vacant school facilities.
Three community sessions are scheduled: Monday, September 21 from 6:00–8:30 p.m. at the Sahuaro High School Gym; Wednesday, September 23 from 4:00–6:30 p.m. at the Cholla High School South Gym; and Saturday, September 26 from 9:00–11:30 a.m. at the Tucson High Magnet School East Gym. This morning, I spoke with TUSD Communications Director Karla Escamilla about the process, what families should know, and how community input will help shape the conversation moving forward.
