HOA Sparks Outrage After Asking Residents Not to Hand Out Full-Size Candy Bars on Halloween

This HOA has officially gone off the rails. A homeowner shared an HOA request asking residents to avoid handing out full-size candy bars and stick to the smaller, fun-sized treats instead.

Here’s what they said, “It’s intended to help keep the experience consistent throughout the neighborhood and to avoid situations where some homes feel pressured to match larger offerings.”

And of course this set off a firestorm online. Most people said that one of the best parts of Halloween is the variety. Some houses go all out, some keep things simple, and some don’t participate at all. And for kids, part of the fun is never knowing what you’ll find until the door opens.

What do you think? Should an HOA have a say in what size candy you’re allowed to give away?
