The next installment in Ryan Murphy’s American Story franchise, American Love Story, focusing on the relationship of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, is in the works for FX. Kennedy and Bessette met in the early 1990s and tied the knot in 1996. Their lives were tragically cut short in 1999 when their plane, flown by Kennedy himself, crashed in the Atlantic Ocean near Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. The series will explore their relationship, delving into their personal lives and the challenges posed by media scrutiny and their individual career paths. “It is a story that really resonates right now,” executive producer Brad Simpson said. “It’s amazing. A lot of younger women are looking to her as sort of a representational icon of a certain period of time that’s really fascinating, and hopefully, we’ll be able to bring that to the screen soon.” (Us Weekly)
