Angelina Jolie recently sat down with People for a chaty interview in which she discussed motherhood and yep, those rumors that she may run for public office.

MOTHERHOOD

The 43-year-old actress and activist is getting ready for her eldest of six, Maddox, to head to college in the fall.

“I’m nothing but proud,” Jolie tells People. “I look forward to all he will do.”

TBD where Maddox will go, but he was spotted visiting schools in South Korea last November. He and Jolie toured schools in Seoul, and Jolie multitasked, also visiting the country as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR) Special Envoy.

KIDS AS INSPIRATION

Jolie also says that Maddox and the other children she shares with her ex Brad PittPax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne—have inspired a new global current affairs program for kids she’s partnering with the BBC on.

“We enjoy reading the kids pullout of the New York Times and look at National Geographic,” says Jolie, “but as a parent, I felt there wasn’t that one vetted and reliable internationally-minded news program tailored for children that we could sit down and watch together each week. That is what I hope this will be for our family and other families.”

NEXT STEPS

Speaking to the U.N. recently, she urged the organization to deploy additional female peacekeepers.

“If you look across the world there are far too many women and girls who are not only not seeing progress, their rights are slipping away from them. We have to change laws that treat women as second-class citizens. But we also have to enforce them,” Jolie says of her next steps with the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PSVI), which she set up in 2012 with former British foreign secretary William Hague.

When asked about running for office, she says, “never say never!” but that she’s “looking to others for leadership.”

She can next be seen in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil on Oct. 18.
