Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and wife Michele, was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of murdering his parents. Police discovered the couple dead from apparent stab wounds inside their Brentwood home Sunday afternoon around 3:40 p.m. Nick Reiner was taken into custody at 9:15 p.m. Sunday and booked Monday at 5:04 a.m. on felony charges, with no bail. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell called it “a very, very tragic incident” during Monday’s press conference, confirming Nick was “booked for murder.” Nick has a history of mental health issues and addiction and co-wrote the 2015 film Being Charlie with his father about that experience.

Tributes poured in from dozens of the stars Reiner worked with during his storied career, including Elijah Wood, Kathy Bates, Jerry O’Connell, John Cusack, Ben Stiller and many more. The acclaimed filmmaker rose to fame as Meathead on the classic sitcom All in the Family from 1971 to 1978, winning two Emmy Awards for best supporting actor. He later directed many beloved films including This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, Misery, and A Few Good Men. Reiner married photographer Michele Singer in 1989 after meeting during production of When Harry Met Sally. The couple had three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy. (Story URL)
