PALEYFEST LINEUP REVEALED: The Paley Center revealed the lineup for its 14th annual PaleyFest Fall TV Previews Tuesday. Among the shows debuting are Netflix’s Emily in Paris, HBO’s We Are Who We Are and Hulu’s Monsterland. “We’re thrilled to present this incredible lineup of programs that feature everything from comedy to drama, romance and intrigue, politics, and even space travel,” said Maureen J. Reidy, the Paley Center’s President & CEO. “We are so fortunate to have the support of Citi, and to welcome Verizon, who will exclusively distribute the festival on their Yahoo Entertainment channel, ensuring a global television audience will have the opportunity to view these entertaining and enlightening conversations with some of the most talented and creative names in television.” Previews start Friday at 8 pm and can be viewed on Verizon’s Yahoo Entertainment channel.
D23 DELAYED: Disney has delayed its next D23 Expo to September 9-11, 2022 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The most recent D23 expo happened in August of 2019, and talent like Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Jamie Foxx, Tom Holland, Chris Pratt and the cast of Eternals were trotted out for avid fans.
DISNEY+ LAUNCHES CO-VIEWING FEATURE: Disney+ is launching GroupWatch, which allows up to seven people watch the same title together, even if they’re in different places. “If we had launched this as a [web] extension, out of our 60 million subscribers, it would have been a drop in the bucket that would ever use the product,” says Jerrell Jimerson, senior vp product management for Disney+. “The vast majority of our viewing happens on televisions.”
NEW ORDER SNAGGED BY NEON: Venice Grand Jury winner New Order has been snapped up by Neon. Michael Franco’s dystopian flick is set in Mexico City and follows a powerful family preparing for a wedding when a former employee enters the scene needing help. The cast includes Naian González Norvind, Darío Yazbek Bernal, Lisa Owen, Fernando Cuautle and Mónica Del Carmen.
