John Stamos‘ memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, hit the shelves on Tuesday (October 24th). Among the many topics the Grandfathered actor writes about are his marriage with Rebecca Romijn and the moment he found out about Bob Saget‘s death.

Stamos writes that he didn’t believe the news about his longtime friend and Full House costar when his publicist called him in January of 2022. Then Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, called. “When I switch callers over to Kelly, all I hear is a wailing scream, hit the ground in the parking lot and my knees slam down on the asphalt. ‘Nooooooooooooooooooooo,'” he writes.

“When you lose a best friend, you lose a piece of your history. I feel lost,” Stamos adds. “I’m still not ready to accept that he’s gone. Not sure I ever will be.”

In another section, the You actor recalls turning down a role in Nip/Tuck because Romijn didn’t like the show. “I let Rebecca read the script. ‘It’s demeaning to women,’ she says dismissively. I think there’s more to the show, but we talk it out and I turn down ‘Nip/Tuck.'” He adds, “Little by little, I start to second-guess my instincts, short sell my abilities, take fewer risks, and get lost in my marriage … I never knew I could be so angry and hate-filled toward another human being, much less one I had been dedicated to for a decade.”

On Monday’s (October 23rd) episode of Access Hollywood, Romijn’s husband, Jerry O’Connell, said Stamos didn't give the X-Men actress any warning about the new book. “We find out just like anyone else,” the Talk host said.
