Malcolm-Jamal Warner tragically drowned while trying to rescue his daughter from a rip current at Playa Grande, Cahuita, Limón in Costa Rica. Tourist Police head Elberth León revealed that both Warner and his daughter were caught in the strong current on July 20th. Despite efforts from bystanders with surfboards and boogie boards, Warner was unable to be saved. The Red Cross attended to the incident, with Warner pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy determined his cause of death as asphyxia due to submersion, ruling it accidental. The beach where the incident occurred is known for dangerous rip currents, especially on days with high waves. (Usmagazine)
