Apple is developing a movie adaptation of the popular computer game Oregon Trail, with directors Will Speck and Josh Gordon (Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile) attached and EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul providing original music and producing. The screenplay, to be penned by The Lucas Bros. (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Max Reisman, will follow a covered wagon train heading west in the style of 19th-century pioneer times. The game, created in 1971, gained a cult following among American grade schoolers in the 1990s for its darkly humorous storylines involving mishaps like broken arms, typhoid, and dysentery. (THR)
