While many people would be nursing serious doubts about the nature of romance following a split from a long-term partner you share a child with, in which there were rumors of infidelity splashed across front pages around the world, Irina Shayk has a refreshingly sunny perspective on love.
“Everyone looks at [marriage] differently,” she told Bazaar.com’s summer digital issue. “Do I believe in marriage? Yes, of course. I’m not the kind of person who is against it.”
The 33-year-old declined to comment on her split from Bradley Cooper (many believed he cheated on her with his co-star Lady Gaga, though everyone involved denies it), but she did discuss their child Lea de Seine. (She also revealed that she named Lea after her beloved grandmother).
She also said she’d never wear stereotypical "mom" clothes. “You have to be really truly yourself for your kids, otherwise you’re living in a lie,” she said. “Tell me one reason why, just because you’re a mother, you need to wear a longer skirt. No! I don’t believe in that. I really don’t.”
And as far as balancing work and motherhood, she takes it as it comes. She said: “There is no real challenge. I really believe if you love something, you can prioritize your time. [Motherhood] is just an addition to your life.”
Shayk attributes her perspective to her home country of Russia where “Women are the ones who can handle everything. Women can raise the kids, women can do the job, and when she’s back, she can cook and clean and do the heavy work too!”
