Three-time Academy Award nominee Diane Ladd died Monday morning at her Ojai, California home at age 89. The veteran actress earned Oscar nominations for “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore,” “Wild at Heart,” and “Rambling Rose.” Laura Dern said in a statement: “My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, Ca. She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created.” Ladd and Dern made history as the only mother-daughter pair nominated for Oscars in the same film with “Rambling Rose.” Born Rose Diane Ladnier in Mississippi, Ladd appeared in “Chinatown,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” and HBO’s “Enlightened.” She is survived by Dern and two grandchildren.
