
The 2021 edition of the Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards were with virtual and live elements Saturday night, due to the ongoing pandemic. The Kids' Choice Awards beamed live at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT from Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, TeenNick, and Nick Jr., with streaming available from Sling TV, Fubo TV, Hulu + Live TV, AT&T TV, and Philo. Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson did the hosting duties.
Big winners were: Wonder Woman 1984 (Favorite Movie), Alexa & Katie (Favorite Kids TV Show), Stranger Things (Favorite Family TV Show) Robert Downey Jr. (Favorite Movie Actor) and Millie Bobbie Brown (Favorite Female TV Star, Favorite Movie Actress).
Top music awards went to Ariana Grande (Favorite Female Artist) and Justin Bieber (Favorite Male Artist), who also claimed the Favorite Music Collaboration prize. Also pulling double duty as a winner—in the categories of Favorite Music Group and Favorite Global Music Star—was South Korean boy band BTS.
The show took full advantage of XR tech, with performances from Justin Bieber, who also happened to be the most nominated star of the night. He took the stage to perform "Anyone" and "Intentions" with Quavo.
Bieber's wife, model Hailey Baldwin, introduced Bieber's performance.
Vice President Kamala Harris also appeared, to represent Generation Change, a ViacomCBS initiative promoting children’s power to effect change through civic engagement. Jennifer Garner introduced Harris.
Harris dedicated the Generation Change Award to all of the “young leaders” across the country who have handled troubled times with grace.
“Thank you for being so incredible, and for all that you do, and will do. From social distancing to remote learning, you’ve been through a lot this year,” she said, in a precorded speech. “But through it all, you young leaders have really stepped up.
Iain Armitage, BTS, Millie Bobby Brown, Charli D'Amelio, David Dobrick, Robert Downey Jr., Kim Kardashian, Gal Gadot, Addison Rae Tiffany Haddish, Anna Kendrick, Heidi Klum, and JoJo Siwa also popped up. The iCarly gang—Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress—also reunited during the telecast.
