Pouring grease, oil or fats down the drain can cause clogged pipes, attract hungry pests, and lead to avoidable plumbing problems. Don’t let that happen! Instead, store your used grease in an airtight container and drop it off at our annual grease collection event.
This annual event is a partnership between Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department, Grecycle, Jacobs Engineering, Pima Community College, O’Rielly Chevrolet, and the Town of Sahuarita.
Help Us Keep the Sanitary Sewer System Flowing Properly!
When you use your toilet, shower, tub, sink, washing machine, or dishwasher, wastewater leaves your home or business through pipes that connect to the public sanitary sewer system. Many chemicals or items that are labeled as flushable can cause damage to these pipes when they are poured or flushed down the drain, causing hazardous sewer backups into homes, businesses, city streets, and other public areas. In addition, cooking grease and oil should never be poured down the drain; not only can it clog your pipes, but it can also attract pests and damage the sewer system.
This page includes information on how you can help protect your pipes and keep the public sewer system working properly for everyone.
Store It, Don’t Pour It!
