With the Oscars this Sunday, how many of the nominated films, if any, did you see in theaters?
According to a survey, a little more than half of us said we’d been to movie theater in the past year. 53% to be exact.
Age seems to be a factor in the moviegoing experience. 67% of younger adults aged 18 to 29 said they’ve been, versus 39% of those who are over 65 years old.
Domestic ticket sales have been having a slow and steady recovery ever since 2020. Over $9 billion worth of tickets were sold last year, compared to the $14 to 16 billion during the 2000s and 2010s.
Of course, the price of a ticket has gone up. Average price these days is $16 compared to $7.89 in 2010.
