Having One Pet Will Cost You $50,000 Over Their Lifetime

SHARE NOW

Owning a pet is getting seriously expensive.

A new study just came out that says, on average, we spend $4,272 a year for one pet. Stretch that over a typical 12-year lifespan, and you’re looking at more than $50,000 for one dog or cat.

And that’s before anything goes wrong.

It doesn’t help that vet costs have jumped 43% in the last five years. It’s gotten so bad, that 37% of pet owners are in debt because of their animals.

And the study says it’s hitting Gen Z the hardest. 46% of them are considering a “petless” lifestyle.
