If first dates make you nervous, you’re definitely not alone. But apparently, most people tend to overthink the whole thing.
Here are some of the biggest mistakes you can make:
1. Trying so hard to impress someone that you forget you’re also deciding if you even like them. It’s not about getting picked. It’s about figuring out if there’s enough of a connection for date number two.
2. Turning the conversation into a one-person podcast. Which means you have to ask questions . . . and then actually listen.
3. Going to dinner on a first date. It can feel like a long interview, so just skip it. Try mini golf, hanging out at a farmers’ market, or even wandering around IKEA. All are fun, low pressure, and a good distraction.
And after the date, forget the old “wait three days” rule. If you had a good time, just send them a text. Dating is stressful enough without pretending you’re playing chess.
