If there’s any time of the year that’s good for saving money . . . THIS is NOT it. A lot of people are already stressing over money for holiday gifts and events . . . and there’s no easy solution.
But a guest on Fox News shared some holiday money-saving advice: DON’T BUY GIFTS FOR GRANDMA.
She’s a financial coach named Jade Warshaw, and she urged shoppers to “budget, budget, budget” and added, “Remember: Adults don’t need gifts. Focus on the people in your life who are ages three to 18 . . .
“Grandma doesn’t need slippers. If they don’t live by you, don’t get them a gift. Now’s not the time to spend and break the bank . . . sending packages across the country.”
Naturally, this is a little controversial . . . and not just among grandmas.
A lot of us have traditions of exchanging gifts with family, friends, and coworkers . . . and we might buy way more gifts than we should to make sure everyone is covered. Those traditions can be hard to break.
But if you don’t keep things in check, gifts for adults can spiral out of control . . . and it’s reasonable AND responsible to keep things reined in every year.
Also: You can cut back with KIDS too. Let’s be honest, the more gifts kids receive the less they appreciate each individual one . . . but no kid is going to say, “Oh, this is too much!”
It can still be a special, joyous, and exciting time for families, without maxing out your budget or loading up your credit cards to buy as many gifts as you can.
