Driving drunk won’t get you into the Florida Man Hall of Fame. But this might!
Cops in Brevard County, Florida arrested a 60-year-old guy last Friday after he refused to pull over . . . even after his car caught FIRE.
They got multiple calls about a flaming car speeding down Highway 192 between Orlando and Melbourne. Witnesses said the driver DID stop initially, but then hopped back in and kept going with “heavy smoke” pouring out of his car.
He eventually stopped a second time. And by then, there were actual FLAMES. But he decided to keep going and took off again.
One of those stops started a small BRUSH FIRE on the side of the road, and firefighters got there before cops did.
60-year-old Patrick Rinaldi eventually pulled his car over once the flames got too big. It turned out his wife was also in the car. She barely managed to get out in time.
They realized he was drunk because he smelled like alcohol, and his eyes were “bloodshot” and “glassy.” He claimed he’d only had one beer, but there was a bottle of booze on the floor of the car. The local sheriff joked that in their line of work, that’s what they call a “clue.”
He’s facing charges for drunk driving and refusing to take a DUI test.
