Here’s another lesson in Criminal Behavior 101:
A 36-year-old man in Illinois named Matthew Unglesbee has been charged with allegedly sending letters with a “white granular substance” to politicians . . . including four members of Congress in Illinois, and at least one U.S. Senator.
The substance turned out to be salt . . . so I guess he was just trying to scare people. But you can’t do that.
And Matthew was NOT smart about it. He was caught . . . because he included his ACTUAL ADDRESS as the return address on the envelopes.
In addition to the salt, Matthew left notes inside that said things like, “HA HA” and “HA HA HA enjoy your gift.”
The FBI interviewed Matthew at his home, and he admitted to it. He said he “heard about letters with suspicious substances being sent to politicians around the country,” and apparently decided to join in. He said he was “joking,” but recognized the recipients of the letters could see them as a threat.
