A new survey asked people to rank the “biggest modern status symbols,” and YOU may have one or two of them. Or more, if you’ve REALLY MADE IT in life.
1. A high-end watch.
2. A luxury handbag.
3. The latest iPhone.
4. An at-home sauna.
5. A hot tub or pool . . . even a smaller, soaking plunge pool.
6. Designer shoes.
7. A walk-in closet.
8. Designer clothing.
9. An electric vehicle.
10. A backyard with an outdoor kitchen.
An “outdoor pizza oven” also made the Top 20 . . . along with a high-end wine fridge or home bar, a fancy exercise bike, a “robot vacuum cleaner,” and actual ART in your home, especially “modern art.
For what it’s worth, 37% of people say “status symbol” items have become less important to them as they’ve grown older. 19% have bought something to impress other people, rather than just wanting it for themselves. And 22% say they feel “proud” having their status symbol items.
