St. Patrick’s Day: The Luckiest and Unluckiest States

SHARE NOW

It’s been exactly six weeks since Groundhog Day, and some areas of the country are DEFINITELY in spring mode, while others are still stuck in winter. But maybe those still-cold states are luckier in other ways.

For St. Patrick’s Day, a new report ranked every state by how lucky they are . . . and the data included a LOT of things.

It considered “pure luck,” so stuff like lottery wins, lightning strikes, and Irish population percentage . . . “financial luck,” cost of living and affordability . . . and “lifestyle and safety luck,” natural disasters, car accidents, and divorce rates.

In the end, the “luckiest state” is New Hampshire. Iowa is #2, followed by Minnesota . . . Pennsylvania . . . Massachusetts . . . Illinois . . . Indiana . . . Rhode Island . . . Michigan . . . and Connecticut.

The UN-LUCKIEST state is: Texas. California is the runner-up, followed by Mississippi . . . Florida . . . Alabama . . . Nevada . . . New Mexico . . . Arkansas . . . Oklahoma . . . and Tennessee.

If you look at the scores on a map, the luckiest states are still feeling winter: Across the Midwest and Northeast. This was driven by “strong credit scores, affordable housing, and moderate safety risks.”

The UNLUCKIEST states are getting some spring heat this week, across the South and out West. The main factors for that include: “Accident deaths, both on the roads and at the workplace, disaster frequency, and divorce rates.”

Our very own Arizona ranked as the 38th Luckiest State!
