Everyone has at least ONE beverage that’s dominating their grocery carts and trunk space . . . or front porches, if you’re willing to pay a little more to have it delivered to your door.
Instacart just released some data on the most popular sodas (or “pops”) on their service, and they also broke it down by state. One kind DOMINATED most of the country, and it isn’t Coke or Pepsi.
Dr. Pepper is huge, especially across the South and West. It’s #1 in 17 states, including: Alaska . . . Arizona . . . Colorado . . . Kansas . . . Missouri . . . Montana . . . New Mexico . . . Oklahoma . . . Tennessee . . . Texas . . . and Virginia.
Canada Dry Ginger Ale is surprisingly strong in the Northeast. It’s the most popular order in states like: Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Schweppes Ginger Ale is #1 in New York . . . and Vernors is the top order in Michigan.
Mountain Dew owns a big chunk of Appalachia and the Upper Midwest: Kentucky . . . Indiana . . . Ohio . . . South Carolina . . . and Wisconsin. Diet Mountain Dew is #1 in both Dakotas . . . Minnesota . . . and Nebraska.
Believe it or not, Classic Coca-Cola is only #1 in THREE states: Florida . . . Georgia . . . and Louisiana. But Diet Coke is the top choice in FOUR states: Massachusetts . . . Utah . . . Illinois . . . and Washington.
And Coke Zero is #1 in TWO: California and Hawaii.
As for Pepsi, it’s only #1 in ONE: Delaware. But Diet Pepsi is #1 in two more: Iowa and Oregon.
And Sun Drop is the favorite in North Carolina.
Sadly, Fanta Orange Soda was not #1 in ANY state.
