Want to Learn Faster? Take a Bunch of Mini 10-Second Breaks

This sounds like a tip for being lazy and unfocused. But apparently it works!

If you’re trying to learn something new, whether it’s an instrument, or a new software, try taking lots of mini breaks.

A study in 2021 found that 10-second breaks every now and then can help things sink in by giving your brain a little time to catch up.

It’s called “gap learning,” and there’s no hard-and-fast rule for how often you should do it. But in general, every few minutes might be good.

A neuroscientist talked about it in a recent podcast and said doing it randomly is better than setting a timer.

Just take a break every few minutes and try to clear your mind for 10 seconds. Then get back to whatever you were doing. It might make a difference.
