Do you use emojis in work emails? If so, you might want to think twice.
A new study from the University of Ottawa found that sending emojis at work aren’t doing anything to help your image. In fact, they might be hurting it.
Positive emojis like a smiley face are safe, but they don’t really add much. Researchers found they work fine with positive messages, but plain text still comes across as the most professional.
And the one emoji you should never send is the “angry face” emoji. Sending an angry face can seriously hurt how coworkers see you. Even if your message is totally reasonable, that little angry face can make you seem less capable.
