Candace Owens and CNN's Don Lemon have both reacted to being called out in Dave Chappelle's surprise Netflix special 8:46. Chappelle had a lot to say about Owens' video criticizing the black community for trying to make a "martyr" out of George Floyd and listing his arrests. Chappelle said, “Candace Owens, that rotten b***h, she’s the worst. I can’t think of a worse way to make money. She’s the most articulate idiot I’ve ever seen in my f*****g life." He continued, "I seen Candace Owens try to convince white America, ‘Don’t worry about it. He’s a criminal anyway.’ I don’t give a f**k what this n***a did. I don’t care what this n***a did. I don’t care if he personally kicked Candace Owens in her stanky p***y. I don’t know if it stanks, but I imagine it does. If I ever find out, I’ll let you know for sure. I’ll tell like Azealia Banks. I’ll tell.”

Candace responded, "To every Democrat tweeting me the clip of #DaveChappelle insulting me: I’m not a leftist. I have a sense of humor & I think comedians SHOULD make fun of people. Dave Chappelle is one of the greatest comedians of all time and I made it into one of his specials. That’s POWER!"

She added, “We’ve arrived too suddenly into a culture where people can’t laugh at themselves, or want to restrain comedians. I will never be a part of that culture. Dave Chappelle—you are legend and I’d love to meet you and challenge you to say any of that to my face! All love!”

During the special, Chappelle called out Lemon for calling out celebrities who were seemingly quiet after Floyd's murder. Chappelle said that the people who are protesting and leading the movement don't need him at all.

Lemon responded on CNN, saying that Chappelle is right, the people don't need him, but now is not the time for celebrities to be modest. He added that the people need to know that celebrities like Chappelle supports them but he also thinks it's great that Chappelle used his platform to talk about Floyd's murder.
