New video footage has surfaced revealing that Sandra Bland recording her arrest. According to VIBE, Bland was found hanging in a Texas jail cell outside of Houston in July 2015, and her death was ruled a suicide.
In the 39-second clip, which aired Monday night (May 6th) on Dallas television station WFAA, white state trooper — Brian Encinia, is seen approaching Bland with a stun gun pointed at her. Encinia opens her car door, ordering her to get out of the car. He is heard saying, “Get out of the car! I will light you up! Get out!” Bland follows the orders, but continues to record. Amid recording, "I'm not on the phone. I have a right to record. This is my property.”
The video has been withheld since the traffic stop. However, Bland’s family wants Texas officials to re-open the case. According to The Grio, her sister, Shante Needham said after seeing the video, “Open up the case, period. We also know they have an extremely, extremely good cover-up system.”
Bland’s attorney, Cannon Lambert, said he never saw the clip. According to The Huffington Post, despite the Department of Public Service saying that Bland’s phone was handed over to the attorney, Lambert said, “I’ve not seen it.If they had turned it over, I would have seen it.”
