Amy Cooper — the white woman who is known as “Central Park Karen” for calling the cops on Christian Cooper, has been charged with filing a false report. According to the AP, District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said in a statement yesterday (July 6th) that his office had charged Cooper with falsely reporting the confrontation, which is a misdemeanor. She was ordered to appear in court on Oct. 14th.
Cooper faces a maximum sentence of one-year in prison.
As previously reported, back in May, Cooper was walking her dog in Central Park and called the cops on Christian and said that she was being threatened by “an African-American man” after he asked her to put a leash on her dog. After public backlash, she issued an apology, saying she “reacted emotionally and made false assumptions about his intentions.”
