COURT THROWS OUT DEFAMATION SUIT AGAINST AVA DUVERNAY AND NETFLIX OVER 'WHEN THEY SEE US': Netflix and Ava DuVernay have come out victorious in a defamation lawsuit over the limited series ‘When They See Us,’ which centers on the wrongful convictions of the Exonerated Five. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the dismissed legal dispute in question had to do with defamation. Specifically, a police training firm said that the series misrepresented their widely used “Reid technique” that's utilized for interrogations. Just last week, ex Manhattan Assistant D.A. Linda Fairstein also sued for defamation, saying she was wronged by being portrayed as the racist mastermind who prosecuted the Exonerated Five.
