Jennifer Lopez had to cancel her concert because of the power outage that affected New York City over the weekend.
J.Lo. took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal that she had just started her It’s My Party show at Madison Square Garden when the power went out and everyone was forced to evacuate.
“We had just started our show, they’re asking everyone to evacuate very slowly and calmly and obviously that’s what we’re going to have to do,” Jennifer said on Instagram. “Obviously we’re going to reschedule the show…I am obviously heartbroken and devastated – and it’s very sad. I love you and I’m so sorry this happened in the middle of our moment.”
But she didn’t let it get her down. JLo made an announcement on her Instagram later that night, saying the date would be rescheduled. And it was:
“ANNOUNCEMENT: Gonna take more than a city-wide blackout to shut us down!” Lopez wrote. “Rescheduling the show for Monday night!”
Meanwhile, Carli Lloyd of the U.S. Women’s World Cup soccer champions received a special gift from J.Lo.
The soccer superstar attended the singer’s New York show at Madison Square Garden on Friday, where she received a sexy lap dance from Lopez during the concert. In video captured by an attendee and posted on Twitter, Lloyd is onstage and sitting on a chair with dancers circling her. As they leave, Lopez comes up behind Lloyd and gives her a performance to remember.
Dressed in a glittery dress and leotard, Lopez begins to sing a slowed-down and sizzling rendition of “If You Had My Love” in front of Lloyd.
Before that, two of J.Lo’s female backup dancers gyrated on Lloyd as the 2009 hit “Birthday Sex” by R&B singer Jeremih played in the background. Lloyd’s 37th birthday is Tuesday. Lopez turns 50 on July 24th.
The U.S. women’s national soccer team has been on a celebratory run since beating the Netherlands to capture a record fourth Women’s World Cup title last week.
