LeBron James took to Twitter to express his outrage over the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery in Brunswick, Georgia. Back in February, Arbery, a 25-year-old black man, was jogging when he was chased down and killed by a white man named Travis McMichael. Video of the tragic shooting surfaced online this week and McMichael hasn't been charged or arrested. McMichael — who was with his dad when he shot Arbery, claimed that he and his dad were attempting a citizen's arrest since Arbery fit the description of a suspect in a string of recent break ins in the area.
Arbery's parents are calling for the immediate arrest for McMichael's and his father. The state of Georgia has opened an investigation into the incident.
LeBron tweeted, "We’re literally hunted EVERYDAY/EVERYTIME we step foot outside the comfort of our homes! Can’t even go for a damn jog man! Like WTF man are you kidding me?!?!?!?!?!? No man fr ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!"
He added, "I’m sorry Ahmaud(Rest In Paradise) and my prayers and blessings sent to the heavens above to your family!!🙏🏾✊🏾❤️ #StayWoke #ProfiledCauseWeAreSimplyBlack😢😢."
