R. Kelly’s trial date has been set for April 27th, 2020. According to Billboard, the singer will appear in court next spring on child pornography and obstruction of justice charges. The judge said on Wednesday (September 4th) at a status hearing that the singer’s trial date could be moved since Kelly is facing similar cases in three other judicial districts.
Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, said at the hearing that having to prepare for court trials is challenging and he isn’t sure if the singer’s legal team could be ready by April.
Prosecutor Angel Krull estimated that the trial would last about three weeks.
Kelly’s next hearing is September 18th.
