Rayshard Brooks was laid to rest yesterday (June 23rd) in Atlanta. Rayshard's private funeral was held at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Dr. Martin Luther King once served as co-pastor. According to TMZ, of course, Rayshard's wife Tomika Miller, his children, family and friends attended the service. MLK's daughter Bernice King spoke at the service, and Rev. Raphael G. Warnock, the senior pastor, delivered the eulogy.

Warnock spoke on racism and mass incarceration in America and said that Rayshard mran that night because he was was running for his freedom and didn't want to go back to jail. Rayshard was on probation when he was shot and killed by ex officer Garrett Rolfe on June 12th. 

Meanwhile, Bernice said that Rayshard did not have to die but his death will not be in vain and she called on Black Lives Matter protests to continue until the movement's demands are met and true justice is achieved.


In other news, 29-year-old Natalie White was arrested yesterday (June 23rd) for burning down an Atlanta Wendy's after the shooting of Rayshard Brooks. According to The New York Post, White's lawyer confirmed that she was Rayshard's girlfriend. 

White turned herself in after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
