R. KELLY SHARES FROM PRISON ON HIS 54TH BIRTHDAY: R. Kelly shared one of his songs called “Shut Up” on his Instagram page on his 54th birthday (January 4th). Some of the lyrics that were posted were “After 22 years of a blessed career/ Had me lying in my hospital bed crying mad tears/ But just as I have many people hatin me, Had so many people loving me/ And let’s not forget the hood around the world covering me/ And to everybody that be calling me, Telling what they’ve been sayin about me/ Bringin me all of this negative s–t, ya’ll the ones I ain’t f–king with.” Kelly captioned the clip “Thank you God, for My Life! ? ?” Kelly’s sex trafficking and racketeering case in Brooklyn is scheduled to go to trial in early April.
KEYSHIA COLE AND ASHANTI VERZUZ POSTPONED AGAIN: On Friday (January 8th), it was announced that Keyshia Cole and Ashanti's VERZUZ battle was postponed once again. The announcement was made on Verzuz’s official Instagram account and it was also revealed that due to COVID numbers rising, the battles will no longer be in person. Keyshia wrote to her fans, “I’m so sorry the @verzuztv event didn’t happen! I want you guys to kno, I really think @applemusic didn’t want to put staff/Production in danger along with @ashanti and myself. Due to the recent spike with the Corona virus ….” The new VERZUZ date will be announced today (January 11th)
KERI HILSON SPEAKS OUT ON TRUMP TWITTER BAN: Keri Hilson was dragged on Twitter for her comments after it was announced that Donald Trump was banned from Twitter. The singer wrote on Friday (January 8th), “This may be funny, but it is a little dangerous too. Take Trump out of it for a moment. A democracy must include freedom of speech. Imagine other leaders or popular figures not being able to voice their opinion if it opposes the majority of world leaders…Our freedom of speech being taken from us. Slowly but surely (censorship).” She continued, “If the leader of the ‘Free world’ can be removed. Imagine that same right of civilians. Imagine believing every time you read ‘False information detected’ and propaganda sic. Deceptive reports. And flat out lies being the only thing we see.” After being dragged for her opinion, Keri responded, “For the record, I don't give a f*ck about Trump. If you can comprehend, I said 'take Trump out of it. I recognize why he was removed. It's the wider view that's scary to me.”
