Celebs came together at New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street venue for a great cause last night (September 12th), as they attended Rihanna’s fifth annual Diamond Ball. The event, which benefits Rih’s Clara Lionel Foundation, was hosted by Seth Meyers and featured performances from Pharrell Williams and DJ Khaled. Rihanna even hit the stage herself and performed "Lemon" with Pharrell.
Stars such as Cardi B, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Rocky, Fabolous, Normani, YG, Kehlani, Meek Mill and Megan Thee Stallion were in attendance as well.
The event also honored Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados and Shaun King, a civil and social activist.
While on the red carpet, Rihanna spoke on the pride she has for being a black woman. She told Essence, [“I’m a black woman. I come from a black woman, who came from a black woman, who came from a black woman and I’m gonna give birth to a black woman. And so, it doesn’t even…it’s a no brainer. That’s who I am, it’s the core of who I am in spirit and in DNA. And, I’d always stand up for what I believe in and who I love and who I know, who I respect. My mother raised me to be an incredible woman and she’s a strong incredible example of what to be and how to fight obstacles in life. And, I’m sure her mom has also taught her. And, that’s how I’m gonna be. We’re impeccable. We are impeccable. We’re special and the world is just gonna have to deal with that.”] SOUNDCUE (:39 OC . . . deal with that)
She also told E! News, “Tonight was phenomenal, everyone is so great. This was a great show.”
