Activist Shaun King was trending yesterday (June 22nd) after he called for statues and images of white Jesus to be removed. He tweeted, "Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down. They are a form of white supremacy. Always have been. In the Bible, when the family of Jesus wanted to hide and blend in, guess where they went? EGYPT! Not Denmark. Tear them down."

Shaun received a mixed reaction from people. Some said he took it too far and there were some who were in favor of his tweet. One person tweeted, "Shaun King is trying to take down White Jesus statues while knowing that he himself is White. Sit your White behind down and mind your business Shaun." Social commentator Dr. Boyce Watkins also tweetd, "#ShaunKing is right about #WhiteJesus and #WhiteSupremacy.  If #Jesus had been presented in his truest form, ya'll would have hanged him from a tree."

Shaun later followed up his tweet with, "Yes. All murals and stained glass windows of white Jesus, and his European mother, and their white friends should also come down. They are a gross form white supremacy. Created as tools of oppression. Racist propaganda. They should all come down."
