J. Alexander Keung, one of the officers involved in the murder of George Floyd, has been disowned by his family. His mom Joni Kueng said that her family believes that Kueng should go to jail and his siblings Taylor and Radiance have participated in protests. Radiance took to social media and shared the video of Floyd's murder and wrote, “Just broke my heart. I don’t care if it was his third day at work or not. He knows right from wrong.”
Joni also revealed that he 26-year-old son had joined the force to bring diversity and to help change the police force after he witnessed some of his family members being mistreated. Joni said about one conversation with her son, “He said, ‘Don’t you think that needs to be done from the inside?’ That’s part of the reason why he wanted to become a police officer — and a black police officer on top of it — is to bridge that gap in the community, change the narrative between the officers and the black community.”
On the tragic George Floyd incident, Joni said, “It’s a gut punch. Here you are, you’ve raised this child, you know who he is inside and out. We’re such a racially diverse family. To be wrapped up in a racially motivated incident like this is just unfathomable”
Joni added that his sisted has decided to change her name because of the incident.
Kueng has been charged in the death of George Floyd. Their pre-trial hearing is scheduled for this morning (June 29th).
